Yoast Google Suggest is truly a nifty little keyword suggestion Tool.
While they are not the endgame as they were a few years ago, keywords used in online content are still very important. Some experts say that we should use a keyword – designed to help search engines find your content and help visitors find you as well – for every 100 words of text. This means a 500 word blog should repeat the same keywords about five times.
However, keyword selection is very important. You need to find words that people use when searching for specific content and using more specific keywords can help send more visitors in your direction.
For instance, if someone is searching for “green cleaning,” all kinds of articles and information will come up. This is now a very broad term. But, if someone is searching for “green cleaning alternatives” or “green cleaning strategies in schools,” the search narrows considerably.
So, how do you find these more specific keywords? In the past I have advised people to learn to use Google Adwords/Keywords Planner. However, if you have used this program, you know it’s a bit complicated, provides a lot of information, but a lot of this information you simply do not need.
It’s called Yoast Suggest and it can be found at https://yoast.com/suggest.
When you go to the Yoast Suggest site, all you see is a box and, below that, the words “suggest output for.” Type in the words that best describe what your article (or products) are all about. Using our example again, if we type in “green cleaning,” we are going to see the following suggestions come up:
• green cleaning products
• green cleaning services
• green cleaning recipes
• green cleaning tips
• green cleaning products wholesale
• green cleaning certification
• green cleaning solutions
• green cleaning 101
• green cleaning magazine
It even breaks down the suggestions alphabetically. For instance, under “green cleaning C” you find green cleaning cloth, green cleaning chemicals, green cleaning company names, green cleaning carpet, green cleaning commercial products, green cleaning commercial,…and more. For “green cleaning P” the program suggests using green cleaning products for businesses, green cleaning program, green cleaning products for schools, green cleaning products Walmart,…and more.
Give this program a try, I’m pretty sure you’ll like it and use it a lot. Most likely, unless you are advertising with Google, you will never use Adwords/Keyword planner again.
