Many travelers visit travel advisory sites when planning a family vacation or just a quick couple of days off. One review of the Miami Valley Gaming Casino located in Lebanon, Ohio, would likely catch the eye of many people, but especially those in the professional cleaning industry.
The reviewer from Indianapolis, Indiana, had the following to say about the Miami Valley Gaming Casino:
Went there for the first time and played slots, won just a little [and] it was fun. Employees were friendly, free beverages, and bathrooms were clean.
When patrons enter a public restroom, whether it’s in a casino, office building, school, restaurant or any facility catering to the public, they expect it to be thoroughly clean. Further, and something we should never forget, the restroom should have a pleasant fragrance as well.
Measuring clean is hard. What is clean to one person may not be clean to another. However, malodors are an entirely different story. Unpleasant odors of urine, feces, vomit, even sewer gasses are invariably met with universal disapproval.
If malodors are a problem, as they were at one time in this casino, building managers typically try a variety of products and cleaning methods to help eliminate them. “The facility director here has tried everything,” said Tim Wolf, Director of Sales for Apex, a janitorial supply house that markets cleaning and other products to the casino. “Depending on the time of year, Miami Valley Gaming is either busy or very busy, and so are the restrooms.”
Among the ways the casino facility director has attempted to address this restroom malodor problem was by installing air freshening systems in the restrooms. However, many facility directors and managers have gone down that road before with limited success. Often, they find these systems work well initially, but as the fragrance in the system dwindles the restroom malodors return. In other words, the systems are mostly covering up the odor, becoming less and less effective over time.
How Impact Products Oxy-Gen Welcomes Restroom Users
Wolf, however, encouraged the Miami Valley Gaming director to try something different, the Impact Products Oxy-Gen air freshening system from Impact Products. Depending on the cartridge used, these systems produce different fragrances such as citrus grove, cucumber melon, lavender fields, and fresh cotton. All cartridges contain up to four times more scent than comparable aerosols and cover an area of 3,000 cubic feet.
However, they have one more ingredient that sets them apart from most all other air freshening systems on the market today, and that is Neutra-lox.
According to Scott Grosteffon with Impact Products, Neutra-lox was developed by a German manufacturer that specializes in odor control systems. “It’s an odor neutralizing agent that eliminates bad odors. It doesn’t mask them or cover them up. Instead, it eliminates them and leaves a fresh scent in the air that works continuously for 30 days.”
The cartridges, by the way, are also 100 percent recyclable when their service cycle has ended.
“This facility director can be hard to please,” adds Wolf. “He wants the very best for the casino’s clientele including that they always have clean restrooms with a pleasant fragrance. He said the Oxy-Gen system is the best he’s found; in fact, he ordered 90 dispensers along with cases of [fragrance] cartridges.”
